Chunky hat and cowl
As any knitter knows, you can never have too many hats and scarves, especially in this wet and windy weather. I walk my dogs every day (I’m no fair weather dog owner) and needed something to keep me cosy on these miserable evenings. Cue these chunky knits from Stylecraft – a cowl and a hat.
I’ve already mentioned my love for pink, so it’s no surprise that my hat has been knit in a beautiful bright pink shade (Pomegranate 3057) of Special XL from Stylecraft. The pattern is simple, but effective. It alternates rib with garter stitch for a different take on a standard rib pattern. It was a super quick knit that I had done in an evening.
For the cowl I decided to stripe the bright pink with a shade of purple (Plum 3058) for a candy stripe look. Knit on 10mm straight needles, it goes up in no time and is ready for seaming before you can say “chunky cowl-tastic”. It’s the perfect size for ultimate coziness and its height means you can pull it right up to act as the perfect wind-breaker. Paired together, the hat and cowl are bright and funky. The chunky yarn is soft and has a silky feel to it. No more cold ears for me when I’m walking the lads.
The good people at Stylecraft have given us a ball of pink and a ball of purple Special XL to give away to one lucky reader, along with the pattern for the hat and cowl (as well as a pattern for a second hat and a scarf). Simply finish this sentence to be in with the chance to win. “I love chunky knits because…” Email your entry to firstname.lastname@example.org before the 13th January.
