Blog, Lora's catch up

A Close-up of the Woodlawn Vest

I love the whole process of knitting, the way the stitches form to create a design, the shaping, the way the pieces come together and what the overall effect is.

In testing the knits for the magazine, we’ve both found our knowledge of knitting is expanding. We can read our work much easier and it’s great to be able to understand where a designer has drawn their inspiration from.

In our latest issue, we had so many lovely projects to knit and crochet up (thank you as always to Goosey Lucy, the crochet guru, for her help).  As well as having one of my own designs the Folkstone Beach included, I also got to knit the Woodlawn Vest samples.

Designed by Evin O’Keefe, the Woodlawn Vest is a worsted/aran weight pattern, that includes sizes from preemie to 12 months.  Evin’s inspiration for the vest came from the ferns in her grandma’s garden.  Living in Cork, Evin has already published one book, Bake Knit Sew: A Recipe and Craft Project Annual (Anchor and Bee, 2014), with plans to release Bake Knit Sew 2, in late spring.

If you’d like to have a closer look at the design in all it’s knitted glory, pop over to my blog to read Knitting the Woodlawn Vest.
